{"id":897,"date":"2023-07-25T16:36:27","date_gmt":"2023-07-25T16:36:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cake.appscodestudio.com\/?p=897"},"modified":"2023-07-25T16:36:28","modified_gmt":"2023-07-25T16:36:28","slug":"easy-chicken-biryani","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cake.appscodestudio.com\/index.php\/2023\/07\/25\/easy-chicken-biryani\/","title":{"rendered":"Easy Chicken Biryani"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1\u00bc cups brown basmati rice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 medium onion sliced thin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 medium jalapeno pepper minced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 tablespoons olive oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs (about 1\u00bc pounds)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>salt and pepper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon minced ginger or 1\/2 teaspoon powdered ginger<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4 cloves garlic minced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00bd teaspoons garam masala<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon turmeric<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2\u00bd cups reduced sodium chicken stock<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 cinnamon stick<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 medium carrots chopped<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 cup frozen peas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/4 cup cilantro minced<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yogurt Sauce (optional)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1 cup plain Greek yogurt nonfat or low fat<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 clove garlic minced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tablespoon fresh cilantro minced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tablespoon fresh mint minced<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Directions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In a large saute pan with a tight-fitting lid, saute the onions and jalapeno in the olive oil over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes or until the onions start to turn golden.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pat the chicken thighs dry with a paper towel and season both sides with salt and pepper.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Push the onions and jalapeno off to the sides of the pan and place the chicken pieces in the middle. Let them cook for about 3 minutes per side to brown. Don&#8217;t flip them until they lift easily.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When the chicken pieces are lightly browned, add the ginger, garlic, and garam masala to the pan. Stir until the spices are fragrant, about 30 seconds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add the rice and chicken stock. Stir to submerge the rice in the stock. Add the cinnamon stick and carrots, and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and cover the pan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Let the chicken and rice simmer for 30 minutes. Check it periodically to make sure it&#8217;s simmering (slow boil) slowly, and stir it so the rice cooks evenly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add the peas after 30 minutes. Cover, and continue to cook for another 20-30 minutes or until the rice is tender. If it seems too dry, add more chicken stock or some water.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When the rice is tender, remove the pan from the heat. Add extra salt to taste and sprinkle with fresh cilantro.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Serve immediately with yogurt sauce if desired.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yogurt Sauce<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Combine the yogurt, garlic, and herbs. Season with a pinch of salt to taste.
