Turmeric Latte

Ingredients:

  • 1 shot of espresso
  • 6 oz steamed milk (any milk of your choice; coconut or almond milk work well)
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper (helps with turmeric absorption)
  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup (or sweetener of your choice)
  • Pinch of ground ginger (optional)
  • Cinnamon stick (for garnish, optional)
  • Ground cinnamon (for dusting)

Steps:

  1. Brew the Espresso: Brew 1 shot of espresso. If you want to make this an extra-strong latte, you can add an additional shot.
  2. Prepare the Spiced Milk: In a small saucepan, combine the turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper, and optional ground ginger with 2 tablespoons of water. Stir and heat gently over low heat until the mixture becomes a smooth paste (about 2 minutes).
  3. Add Sweetener: Add 1 tsp of honey or maple syrup to the spice paste. Stir well to combine.
  4. Steam the Milk: Add 6 oz of milk (or milk alternative) to the saucepan with the spice paste, whisking or stirring as it steams until the milk is frothy and heated through.
  5. Combine: Pour the brewed espresso into a mug. Then, slowly pour the steamed spiced milk into the cup with espresso, stirring gently to combine.
  6. Top (Optional): Garnish with a dusting of ground cinnamon or a cinnamon stick for extra flavor and presentation.
