Matcha Latte

Ingredients:

  • 1 shot of espresso (optional, for a matcha mocha twist)
  • 2 tsp matcha powder (ceremonial grade preferred)
  • 6 oz steamed milk (oat milk works great for a creamy texture)
  • 1 tbsp simple syrup (or sweetener of choice)
  • Matcha powder (for garnish)

Steps:

  1. Whisk the Matcha: In a small bowl, sift 2 teaspoons of matcha powder to remove clumps. Add about 1 oz of hot water (around 175°F) and whisk vigorously until the matcha becomes frothy and smooth.
  2. Brew the Espresso (Optional): If you want to make a Matcha Mocha Latte, brew a single shot of espresso.
  3. Steam the Milk: Steam 6 oz of milk until smooth and creamy.
  4. Combine: Pour the steamed milk into the matcha mixture (or add the espresso before the milk if making a mocha version).
  5. Sweeten: Add a tablespoon of simple syrup to sweeten (optional).
  6. Top (Optional): Garnish with a dusting of matcha powder on top for a beautiful green color.
